Day 01: 12th December: Arrival at Paro and transferred to Thimphu

Welcome to Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Touching down at Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide upon exiting the arrival hall. Today, we will take it easy to acclimatise to the altitude. Drive to Thimphu, check in to the hotel and lets have your first taste of Bhutanese cuisine and some light sight-seeing in Thimphu if possible.
Heritage Museum - Dedicated to connecting people to the Bhutanese rural past though exhibition of artefacts used in rural households.
Textile Museum - Witnesses the art of traditional weaving.Simtokha Dzong - Five miles from Thimphu, on a lofty ridge, stands Semtokha Dzong the oldest fortress in the Kingdom.
Day 02:13rd December : Drive to Dochula to attend the Festival and drive to Punakha
Distance: 77 km
Estimated travel time: 3 hrs
Today drive to Dochula Pass( 3050m) to see Druk Wangyel Lhakhang. If weather is clear you will see spectacular views of eastern Himalayan ranges. You can visit 108 stupa dedicated to 4th King of Bhutan.

Towards evening drive to Punakha.
Day 03: 14th December: Punakha Sightseeing
Lunch and Dinner
Morning after breakfast When you reach near the dzong you will see Punakha dzong built on the confluence of Phochu Male River and Mochu (Female River). This Dzong is the winter capital since 300 years ago; today it is the winter residence of the Je- khenpho the chief abbot and also serves as the administration center of the Punakha district
Walk up to suspension bridge above this Dzong if interested tourists can visit this suspension.
Walk to Chimi Lhahang to get blessing from the temple who you can wish to get children as per your wish. This monastery is a famous pilgrim site for sterile women who wish to bear children.
As you drive further you will pass Khuruthang town which is quite small small town where new administrative town of Punakha is located.
Day 04: 15th December: Punakha- Phobjikha Valley
Distance: 95 km
Estimated travel time: 3 hrs
After breakfast, drive up a winding mountain road through oak and rhododendron forest, and just before reaching Pelela pass we will take diversion towards Phobjikha valley, known as valley made in heaven. Phobjikha is one of Bhutan’s few glacial valleys, and chosen winter home of black-necked cranes, migrating from the Tibetan plateau. Explore Phobjikha valley and also visit Gangtey Gompa Monastery, the only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan.
Dinner and overnight stay Phobjikha Hotel.
Day 05: 16th December: Phobjikha- Thimphu
Distance: 172 km
Estimated travel time: 5 hours 30 minutes
At Phobjikha you will see Yak which lives in the high altitude
Our journey continues with travels to Punakha through some of the Kindom’s richest agricultural land and most dramatic river valleys
Lunch at Punakha
Thimphu and sightseeing
After lunch travel to Thimphu through Dochula pass stopping at Simtokha Dzong en-route. Built in 1627, it is often said to be the oldest dzong in Bhutan. The site is said to have been chosen to guard over a demon that had vanished into a rock. The dzong was constructed to enclose the rock, to ensure that the demon would remain imprisoned. Simtokha Dzong now houses the Institute for Language and Culture. Your next destination is the Takin Preserve which houses the national animal, the unique Takin, which lives in herds at altitudes of over 4000 metres and weighs as much as 220 kilos! Your last visit for the day is the Government-run Handicraft Emporium and Craft Bazaar where you can find fine examples of locally produced woven textiles, thangkha paintings, ceramics, jewellery, slate and wood carvings.

Day 06: 17th December: Coronation Day of Bhutan

Visit Memorial chorten built for the memory of late king Jigmi Dorji Wangchuk in 1974.
Visit Kuensel Phodrang to see world largest sitting Buddha statue and from here Thimphu can be clearly seen
Dinner and overnight stay at Thimphu.
Day 07: 18th December: Paro- Bangkok
